Demi Lovato is showing off her fabulousness on the cover of the most recent Cosmopolitan magazine, and she’s taking issue with those who want to cover it up.
Just last week, RiteAid and Food Lion said that they would place issues of Cosmo behind “blinders” to protect minors from the magazine’s sexual content. The move came in response to a campaign, “Cosmo Harms Minors,” by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation to get stores to wrap the covers in sleeves.
But Demi is firing back, claiming that these protestors have it all wrong and saying that being on this magazine was a “liberating” experience — since she was able to show the world how “confident a woman can be once she learns to love herself.”

Demi went on to say that she feels it’s important that women understand that there is “NOTHING WRONG” with “embracing their bodies and sexuality,” finishing it off with caption, “#unwrapmycosmo,” a hashtag her fans are totally on board with.
I couldn’t be any more proud to call this empowered, beautiful woman my idol. #unwrapmycosmo #DemiLovato @ddlovato pic.twitter.com/UyAGxIv2N1

But Demi’s cover wasn’t the only thing to come under fire, some were taking issue with what she had to say in the magazine. In her Cosmo interview, Demi said, “I considered myself a feminist before it was cool. Now everyone is claiming it” — and it’s a statement that didn’t sit well with singer Ryn Weaver.
@ddlovato I think you’re dope. I don’t think we should brand feminism as something that’s cool or trendy tho. Considering its definition, I

@ddlovato would hope that equality for women is more than a trend but an eventual truth.Everyone should be a feminist unless they’re bigoted

However, the “Octahate” singer still has nothing but love for Demi, saying that her new song, “Cool For The Summer” is “dope.”
@ddlovato that being said, you’re new song is awesome and you seem dope. Only love.
